I am the Finance Assistant and I am in charge of the finances, HR related roles and I manage the funds, and issue equipment.
What made you decide to work for On Call Africa?
When I was in college, I realised that I had the potential to help people and I spent my time working out how I could help people more. I gained the confidence I needed. OCA enables me to stretch my hand to the community and put in proper systems to help
What were you doing before you joined On Call Africa?
Before I joined OCA, I was with Umoyo Natural Health which is the biggest natural health store in Zambia as their assistant accountant. Before that I worked with a consultancy firm and also in the transport industry.
Why should someone give up their time to volunteer for On Call Africa?
OCA is not just about helping the community, it is a platform to share knowledge, such as doctors from the UK brining their expertise and exposing the communities to their experience. It is a challenging environment but it is very rewarding.
Tell me something about you that no one else knows…
I actually failed my Grade 9 exams… I then managed to finish my grade 12 and then I was lucky to be sponsored to do an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy!
Have you got any tips on Zambia for future volunteers?
Zambia is a lovely nation and everyone wears a big smile!! It is a really fun country and the people are so friendly. The curiosity of the communities make an amazing experience.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love playing pool! And I also enjoy watching action movies.
